Why am I not receiving WhatsApp messages?

- Open a web page with your mobile. If you can open a web page but WhatsApp does not work correctly, contact your mobile operator to check that your APN or Access Point Name and your router are configured correctly, to allow connections other than through web pages and socket.
- Try a different connection. Whether you can't open web pages or WhatsApp doesn't work, switch between WiFi and mobile data connections or vice versa, to rule out WiFi or mobile data connection problems.
We can also check if the option Restrict background data is disabled.
- To do this, go to mobile settings
- Click on Applications
- Now access the Application Manager entry
- Choose WhatsApp
- Access Data Usage
- Now check that the Restrict background data option is disabled
- Repeat the same steps for Google Play Services
Possible causes and quick solutions
- Turn off your phone, wait about 30 seconds and turn it on again.
- Connect your mobile phone to the mains with the charger to prevent the energy saving function from turning on
- Reset the preferences of your mobile apps through Settings – Applications – Menu – Reset preferences
- Check the WiFi sleep settings through Settings – WiFi – Menu – Advanced – WiFi during sleep and set the option to Always
- Close all WhatsApp Web sessions through WhatsApp – Menu – WhatsApp Web – Close all sessions
- Access your Hangouts account and click on Menu – Sign out to log out; go to Hangouts again and log in
- Uninstall task management or task killer apps from your mobile, as they can prevent WhatsApp from receiving messages while they are open

- Make sure Do Not Disturb mode is disabled via Settings – Sound – Do Not Disturb
- Check that WhatsApp notifications are allowed with priority mode
- Check that the WhatsApp app has all the permissions on your mobile through Settings – Applications – Application Manager – WhatsApp – Accesses
- Make sure the Sync button is turned on via the Android quick menu by swiping down from the top of the screen
