cuphead Island Bosses I Rank A+
The Root Pack
Phase 1
This is the first Boss of the game, since it barely has any attack mechanics. Its first phase is a potato that spits projectiles at us that can be easily dodged by jumping and parrying the fourth pink projectile. After firing several waves, it increases the speed of its shots.
Phase 2
After the potato, a crying onion will appear and its tears will fall from above to damage us, they are very easy to avoid and some are pink to be able to make parry.
Phase 3
Finally, we fight against a carrot that throws small carrots at us that can be destroyed with our shots. When he puts his hands above his head, he sends waves towards us towards the position we are in, we can dodge them very easily using dodge.
Goopy Le Grande
Phase 1
During the first phase Goopy simply bounces around the stage, you have to dodge under him using the dodge, what you have to keep in mind is that he bounces off the wall if it is on the margins of the screen, so there is We have to pay attention to the rebound so that it does not hit us, it also performs an attack in which it grows large and pulls itself forward, we can avoid this attack by crouching, as long as we see that it is going to be carried out we continue shooting while crouching.
Phase 2
After completing the first phase, Goopy will get bigger and we will see that 3 pink question marks appear around his head. This is the only opportunity we have to do the 3 parrys to obtain an A+ rank so we must take advantage of it. In this phase it is the same as in the previous one except that it is much bigger so we have to be faster when dodging, it also performs an attack in which it delivers a frontal punch with a boxing glove, we dodge it just like The previous one, if we bend down, never hits us.
Phase 3
Finally, Goopy turns into a tombstone that moves from side to side across the screen and tries to crush us by jumping towards us. In this phase we have to continually move from side to side to avoid being stepped on and shoot by jumping and using the RB. to fix the shot, it won't take us much to kill him and as long as he is going to launch himself towards us using the dodge we will be safe.
Hilda Berg
Phase 1
In this first phase we will simply have to worry about Hilda's laughter, which comes towards us when she opens her mouth, and the small planes that shoot projectiles at us, very simple.
Phase 2
When we take away enough life from her, Hilda swells up and comes towards us, being careful not to get in the same line so that she doesn't hit us, and when she comes back from behind the same thing. In this phase it turns into a bull that attacks us with its horns when it is in line with us so be careful, here several of the planes that come fire pink projectiles attentive to the parrys.
Phase 3
Phase 3 can have 2 transformations, but only 1 comes out at random. In one he becomes a cupid with a bow that shoots an arrow at us accompanied by blue stars that chase us (we can break them by shooting) and in the other 2 twins appear that throw a projectile that begins to shoot in a circular manner, making us small we will have enough time to dodge the shots. In both phases some of the planes shoot pink projectiles at us.
Phase 4
After finishing Phase 3, Hilda turns into a giant Moon, we must shoot her face with everything we have, stars appear from the right and some are pink, although we should already have the 3 Rank A+ parrys in the transformations prior to the latter. The most important thing is to know how the UFOs that shoot at us from above work, the red ones shoot towards the end of the screen and the brown ones towards the middle.
Cagney Carnation
Phase 1
This battle has two very similar initial phases where we will have to dodge the seeds that fall from the sky, when the seeds attack, some are colored orsa and we can do the parry, it is important to know that if the pink seed falls to the ground it creates a flying fruit that shoots pink projectiles at us, it would be very useful for the parry, but be careful that having this fruit flying above can complicate the combat. Furthermore, when he joins his hands and opens them he will throw some boomerangs at us that attack first from above and then from below when they return, when we turn around or we jump or stay on the platforms, as well as some seeds that he throws in several directions at the same time ( In principle they go where we are), but be careful when avoiding the first one as we may end up hitting ourselves with the others.
Another attack that he performs from time to time in this phase is a frontal attack and it can come from above or below, when he crouches to do it we have to look at how high he is to predict where he will come from.
Phase 2
In the final phase on the ground it is filled with thorns and also projects roots towards the platforms, be careful not to be on the platform where we see roots and it will hit us, it also shoots projectiles from its mouth (very easy to dodge) and some are pink so that must be used to make parry. By being aware of which platforms we cannot be on by the roots, we have enough to put an end to it.
Ribby and Croacks
Phase 1
In this boss we will have to face two frogs. During the first phase, the tall frog will throw some flaming insects at us that will chase us little by little and that we can destroy with our shots, while the small one will throw fist-shaped projectiles at us that always follow the same order: low, medium, high, medium, low and so on, making it easy to memorize when we have to jump and when to crouch to avoid these attacks.
Phase 2
Both enemies share the same life bar, so once we deal enough damage to any of them we will move on to the second phase of the battle. We will know that this begins when the small frog crouches down and rolls towards us, an attack that we will have to dodge by jumping.
From here we will be surrounded by both frogs. In this phase the tall one will create gusts of wind that will push us against the small one or attract us towards it, so we will have to move in the opposite direction to try to stay in the center. Meanwhile, the little one will take the opportunity to launch the same projectiles from the first phase and some new ones that bounce off the floor and ceiling.
Phase 3
As before, when we do enough damage the little frog will again try to finish us off by rolling before switching to the final phase of the fight. Dodge it by jumping and both frogs will merge, becoming a slot machine.
In order to do damage to this transformation you will have to do a parry on the lever of the machine, although before it turns pink and is susceptible to said technique you will have to dodge a few coins. When you activate it, depending on what appears in the slot machine, some platforms or others will begin to appear with various dangers. This is the only time we will have to damage our rival, since while he is expelling platforms he is vulnerable to our shots.
