Options through PS4 Safe Mode

Once we have completed the previous steps, The console will boot into Safe Mode. This mode will show us several options on the screen through a dedicated menu with the following entries to choose from:

  • Restart system: Does not make any changes and exits Safe Mode after restarting the console.
  • Change resolution: If we have reset the console due to problems with the image, this option restarts the console with a 480p resolution output.
  • Update system software: With this option we can update the system software through our internet connection, a USB device or a disk.
  • Restore default settings: Resets the console settings to factory default settings.
  • Rebuild the database: Option that allows us to create a new database if the system does not work well with all the content of the console.
  • Initialize the PS4: Be careful with this option because it erases all the current content of the console and returns it to its factory state.
  • Initialize PS4 (reinstall system software): The last option is the most aggressive since it formats the console's hard drive, including the operating system, to return it to its factory state. Additionally, before starting the operation, we must connect a USB drive with the most current version of the system software for its correct installation.
