As with all electoral processes in Spain, every time citizens are called to participate in new elections, the most common thing is that in the following months until election day our mailbox is filled with electoral propaganda from the main political parties that are presented. And for each of the candidates for the Government, each person of legal age registered at home will receive your corresponding letter with the party propaganda, thus saturating our mailbox with correspondence that on many occasions we don't even open. Luckily, we can avoid receiving this type of propaganda in our home with a few simple steps; Below we offer you a guide to not receive electoral correspondence in Spain with each new election.

And we can always choose to demand from the Statistics National Institute either INE that our name and address are not included in the copies of the census that are sent to the candidates of the political parties so that they can send their correspondence as electoral propaganda. We can also go to our town hall or provincial delegation closest to unsubscribe from the process, but it is always more convenient and faster online through the INE official website.

To do this, we must go to the INE official website and process our withdrawal from the process remotely, in order to not receive more electoral correspondence with each new call for elections. And according to the INE's own description, "this procedure allows the online completion of the exclusion/inclusion request in the copies of the electoral roll that are delivered to the representatives of the candidates to send postal mailings of electoral propaganda."

Any person registered on the electoral roll can request exclusion from the standard procedure for sending electoral propagandaYes, the applications must be completed before the thirteenth day after the call of an election for the request to take effect.

To begin, and to be able to access the cancellation request on the INE website, we must have a Certificate either Electronic ID valid for validation platform @signature of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public administrations and validated by the Electoral Census Office. Also through the system Cl@ve through its corresponding certificate. Once we have everything ready we must follow the following steps:

  1. Access the next link to start the process.
  2. If you have an electronic DNI or the Cl@ve certificate you can identify yourself electronically or online.
  3. When you have accessed the system you will be able to see your personal Census data; Check that the current data is correct and scroll down until you find a link.
  4. When you have clicked on said link you will reach a web form in which you can choose between Including either Excluded; choose Excluded so that your data is not included in the census provided to political parties.
  5. Once the process is completed, you will receive a notification approving your request: “it has been approved and will have permanent effect as long as it is not stated otherwise.” This means that unless you change your mind and modify your data in the INE again, you will no longer receive electoral propaganda by mail at your home.
