We have all at some point lost the tv remote, or it has simply ended up breaking and we have ended up buying a universal remote which has been impossible to configure. Luckily there is many ways to configure said controls of a simple way and fast, or many substitutes.
How do we configure the controller?
The easiest way to program a universal remote is enter the code that identifies with the brand of television that we want to use, the player or whatever. The codes are normally provided by the remote control manual itself through a sheet called "code sheet".
We can also find them online. After finding the code, follow the following steps:
- Turn on the device that you want to control with the remote.
- Press and hold the button DEVICE. This will cause the device's LEDs and power buttons to light up.
- With the button still pressed, enter the code for the device brand. If a brand has more than one code, start with the first and continue until the power button turns off.
- Do not release the button even if you have entered the code until the power light on the remote control goes off. If the light flashes it means that the code is not correct.
- If it is correct, simply test the controller, it should work.
How do I look up the code from the remote?
There is a simple way to search the code automatically on some universal controls. What this will do is try various codes that you have installed in your database until you find the correct one. The steps you must follow are:
- Turn on your TV or the device you want to control.
- Press and release the button DEVICE and the button on the controller of what you want to control, a TV, a DVD or whatever.
- Press the button DEVICE again, as well as the button POWER at the same time. Release both buttons at the same time.
- Press and release the button PLAY on the remote, then wait a few seconds and see if the device you're trying to control turns off. If it does, you have already found the correct code.
- After this press and release the button REVERSE every two seconds until your device turns back on. When it turned on it found the code.
- Once found press the button STOP and you can now use your controller.
